The Road Transport Department (RTD) will deploy 1,400 officers on roads during the Chinese New Year period, after the Transport Ministry recorded over 7,000 deaths on the road last year. Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said officers will hold roadblocks, random checks on highways, bus terminals and even go undercover as passengers in efforts to reduce the number of road accidents.
