Tropical forest Minkong is one of the largest forest in Mokokchung district Mokokchung .It provide ecological services and also a source of livelihood for different types of animals and birds.The forest is a treasure house of various medicinal plants and trees.

We have ventured for four days in this forest in search of a medicinal plant.We have heard that our ancestors have seen such kinda plants.

It's the rarest plant in the world and only a few have found it and it's called Black Turmeric or Kali Haldi in Hindi.It has an appearance that more closely resembles its cousin the knobby ginger.

Black Turmeric belongs to the zingiberaceae family.In some culture the root of a black Turmeric is used for medicinal as well as religious purpose..It is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.

According to science black Turmeric or black ginger can be used in the treatment of arthritis, epilepsy, bruises and sprains to ease discomfort,applying on our forehead to help relieve symptoms of migraines.

It is also used in prevention and treatment of several cancer including lung,liver,breast,stomach,colorectal, cervix and prostate cancer.It is also used to cure menstrual problem,skin infection,fever, depression,high cholesterol,all types of diabetes, hypertension etc.
