A woman and her newborn baby were rescued by fire officials in eastern India’s flooding in Odisha. They were left marooned in their house as rainwater overflowing on surrounding streets made escape nearly impossible.
The incident took place on August 28 in the Bari area of Jajpur district. Fire service personnel of Bari undertook the rescue operation.
Visuals show two rescuers making their way to the flood-hit house using ropes. The woman and her baby can then be seen being guided from the house to the rescue boat from a relatively lesser dangerous path beside the house. Later the woman is seated in the lifeboat while the infant is taken care of by one of the rescuers.
Chandikhol Fire Station team has rescued 82 persons from several villages in Badachana block of the district.
