코로나19 어제 195명 신규확진...200명 아래로
Our top story this afternoon.
The number of newly-confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Korea dipped below 200 on Thursday for the first time in 17 days.
Despite the downward trend, concerns remain as the number of critically ill patients is rising.
Kim Sung-min reports.
South Korea reported 195 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday..., the number dropping down to below 200 for the first time in seventeen days.
Of Thursday's new cases, 188 were locally transmitted... with more than 140 coming from the capital region of Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi-do Province.
The outbreak in South Korea seems to be slowing but there are still concerns that the number could spike again following a series of cluster infections.
The country has recently seen chains of infections at various spots such as a music tuition academy, sports facilities and volunteer groups.
And the number of infections stemming from churches and the protest last month at Gwanghwamun Square are still increasing.
Another major concern is the spiking number of critically ill patients which stands at 1-hundred-54 as of Thursday.
That is the largest number reported within the country since the start of the outbreak.
There were 3 deaths, bringing the death toll to 3-hundred-29.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in South Korea stands at 20-thousand-six-hundred-forty-four.
