A big tragedy was averted in Chhattisgarh as the DRG jawans had a lucky escape. The bus in which they were travelling in got washed away in a stream at in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh state on Monday. According to sources, the incident occurred when nearly 30 jawans of the District Reserve Guard were returning in a bus from search operations. The stream was in full spate following heavy rains for the past few days in the district. The bus driver lost control of the vehicle which overturned in the overflowing stream. A few jawans who got down from the bus to cross a low bridge across the stream rushed to the rescue of those in the bus. Bijapur Superintendent of Police said all the jawans in the bus were safe, firearms and other equipment were retrieved.
