Prominent Hong Kong opposition activist Joshua Wong was arrested on September 24, 2020, for allegedly participating in an unauthorised assembly in October 2019 and violating the city’s anti-mask law. Wong says he believes the timing of his arrest and prosecution is politically motivated and intended to stoke fear ahead of a planned march next week.
