South Korea on Tuesday reported fewer than 40 cases of COVID-19.
But with hundreds of thousands of people expected to travel across the country this week, the health authorities are on high alert to make sure the virus doesn't travel with them.
Choi Won-jong has the details.
South Korea reported 38 new cases on Tuesday, the first time there have been fewer than 50 since early August.
Of the new cases, 23 were local and 15 from overseas.
This brings the total to more than 23-thousand-600.
The health authorities are on alert, though, as people start to travel across the country.
"This week, we urge you to spend the holiday with a higher degree of awareness than in previous years. Please do not visit family because of the risk of spreading the virus. There are two risk factors family gatherings and travel.
In a briefing, the health authorities raised concerns about the sporadic cluster infections that continue to occur at small gatherings and community centers for senior citizens.
Last Friday, the government announced that it would impose a new set of stricter preventive measures during Chuseok... as a 'special virus prevention period.'
In the capital area, the government is requiring customers to keep a least a meter apart at restaurants, coffee shops and bakeries with 20 or more seats.
If that's not possible, then they need to sit one seat apart or even a table apart with barriers between them.
Also, there's a ban on gatherings of more than 50 people indoors and more than a hundred outdoors.
That means none of the usual festivals or traditional games, and no spectators at sporting events.
