Mok-yeon, thousands of people took to the streets calling for freedom of expression.
The protest comes after a 47 year-old history teacher, Samuel Paty, was beheaded by a suspected Islamist on Friday.
The killing took place near his school in Paris, where he had shown his class cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad.
The class had prompted anger among a number of Muslim parents, as Muslims believe that any depiction of the Prophet is blasphemous.
The 18-year old attacker was shot dead by police soon after the killing.
President Emmanuel Macron called the incident an attack on the country's freedom of expression.
"One of our citizens was murdered today because he was teaching freedom of expression. Our compatriot was flagrantly attacked, he was a victim of an Islamist terrorist attack."
The police are still investigating any potential link with terrorist groups.
