Edvard Grieg composed 10 volumes of "Lyric Pieces" miniatures between 1867 and 1901. Although he maintained that he didn't copy folk tunes, Grieg fashioned this melodies with a Norwegian folk-like character. He embellished Melodie, Op. 47 No. 3 with surprising harmonies, and I find its chromatic texture very intriguing.
