Umno supreme council member Annuar Musa has denied that party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's move to reaffirm support for Perikatan Nasional (PN) was a U-turn.

Annuar said that Zahid had instead made his own decision to put national interest above politics.

This came a week after Umno threatened to pull its support from PN - amid tensions with Bersatu and speculation that Umno MPs were backing PKR president Anwar Ibrahim's bid to become prime minister.
