Some families of Life eSidimeni victims are still waiting for compensation. Over 140 mentally-ill patients died when the Gauteng Health Department transferred them from Life Esidimeni hospitals to unregistered NGOs in 2016. Their lawyer, Ulrich Roux, says several attempts have been made to resolve the matter. They have also written to the Gauteng Premier.
