Russian President Vladimir Putin was escorted by six Su-57 fighter planes when he was enroute to the southwestern region of the country. This is nearly half of the country’s total number of fighter jets. Putin traveled to the region to inspect various military units before he leaves to meet the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. The facility is the country’s largest military research and development site for aircraft and air defense systems.
