Google issued a statement following a blog post by payments platform Paytm. In the statement, Google said that cashbacks and stickers do not violate its policies, but gambling platforms do. The company took down Paytm from its platform on September 18 because it was using its payments app to promote Paytm First Games, which has a daily fantasy sports aspect to it, hence violating Google’s policies. The Indian fintech unicorn in a blog post said that the Paytm Cricket League campaign didn’t violate the Play Store policies.
