INS Vikramaditya on May 3 paid special tributes to the frontline warriors dealing with the coronavirus pandemic by symbolically punching the deadly coronavirus. PRO Defence Mumbai tweeted the 41 second video. In the video, a clenched fist in green lights can be seen directing a punch to a coronavirus –like figure lit in red colour lights on the deck of INS Vikramaditya. The video has gone viral on social media. It was part of Indian armed forces' day-long exercise to pay tributes to the frontline warriors fighting the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. Navy ships docked at major ports including Mumbai and Chennai were also lit up. The Indian armed forces- Indian Air Force, Indian Army and Indian Naval Services organised day-long tributes for the coronavirus fighters. Sukhoi-30, IAF transport aircraft carried out flypasts. There was also an aerial shower of rose petals on hospitals and personnel formation by Navy men aboard warships. India is currently under the third phase of lockdown imposed to contain the spread of the highly contagious coronavirus. The number of cases in India has reached 42,533 with 1373 deaths being reported.
