The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Thursday disallowed a street protest organised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Srinagar against the recently notified land laws for the Union Territory (UT). Several PDP leaders were arrested when they assembled at the PDP’s headquarters in Srinagar, which was later sealed by the security forces.

जम्मू-कश्मीर में जमीन की खरीद-बिक्री को लेकर केंद्र सरकार ने नए नियमों को मंजूरी दी है जिसके बाद से सूबे की राजनीति गरम है. केंद्र सरकार के इस फैसले के खिलाफ पीडीपी के कार्यकर्ताओं ने विरोध प्रदर्शन किया. इसके बाद पुलिस ने पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री और पीडीपी प्रमुख महबूबा मुफ्ती सहित कई कार्यकर्ताओं पर कार्रवाई करते हुए हिरासत में ले लिया. दरअसल पीडीपी कार्यकर्ताओं ने गुरुवार को श्रीनगर स्थित पार्टी मुख्यालय से नए भूमि कानून के विरोध में प्रोटेस्ट रैली का आयोजन किया था.
