Indians will witness a partial lunar eclipse or 'chandragrahan' beginning the night of July 16, 2019. It will be visible in Asia, Europe, South America, Africa, and Australia. Lunar eclipses occur on a full moon, and this lunar eclipse is taking place on the Full Buck Moon. The full moon on July 16 is referred to as Full Buck Moon as it is named after a male deer by the Farmer’s Almanac, as the deers generally grow their new antlers in July. This full moon however falls on the day Hindus in India celebrate Guru Purnima. This Guru Purnima will happen on the same day as the upcoming partial lunar eclipse for the first time after a span of 149 years.
