Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said a new law to control the sale of tobacco needs to be completed and presented in Parliament soon.
He said without a new Act, it would be difficult to control the sale of vape liquids that contain nicotine.
Dr Noor Hisham said this in response to a measure to impose a 10% excise duty on cigarettes and e-cigarette devices that was proposed in the tabling of Budget 2021.
