South Korea's ruling Democratic Party, the government and the presidential office have agreed to come up with measures to support essential workers.
These are workers who had an excessive workload during COVID-19 crisis mainly in delivery services or medical and care centers.
Lawmakers aim to create a legal basis to help the workers and secure 1-point-6 billion U.S. dollars for 2021 for workers' support.
Finance Minister Hong Nam-ki called for systematic measures to prevent deaths from overwork.
He also committed to ensuring all workers in the country have employment insurance.
The government said it'll unveil the specifics by December.
