The Uttar Pradesh cabinet decided on Tuesday to introduce an ordinance, clearing a law against unlawful religious conversion for the sake of marriage to check 'love jihad'. The ordinance provides for a jail term of 1-5 years with Rs 15,000 penalty for forceful religious conversion. Four other BJP-ruled states — Karnataka, Assam, Haryana are Madhya Pradesh — are also mulling to bring similar law against 'love jihad'. Meanwhile, Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay has threatened "surgical strike on intruders" in Old City ahead of the Hyderabad civic elections. "Intruders" was a reference to illegal Bangladeshis, Pakistanis and Rohingyas who allegedly live in the city. Watch First Up for more.
