Black Panther actress Letitia Wright has denied that she ever intended to hurt anyone after sharing a video questioning the safety of the Covid-19 vaccine. The British star, 27, sparked controversy after tweeting a video called Covid-19 Vaccine: Should We Take It? from On The Table, a YouTube discussion channel. Addressing the fierce backlash, she said on Twitter: "My intention was not to hurt anyone, my ONLY intention of posting the video was it raised my concerns with what the vaccine contains and what we are putting in our bodies. Nothing else." It comes 24 hours after England's deputy Chief Medical Officer, Jonathan van Tam, appeared on ITV's This Morning. Prof Van Tam was asked by presenter Phillip Schofield what he would say to conspiracy theorists, anti-vaxxers and people who believe "it's got something to do with Bill Gates". Schofield said: "All of these things that you look at and think it's so extraordinary that people would believe this nonsense, but what do you say as a scientist?" Prof Van-Tam replied: "You're right, Phillip. It's extraordinary nonsense and I don't give it any credence, and I don't give it any airtime." Anti-vaccine disinformation is one of the greatest risks to our way out of the global pandemic, a British MP has warned international lawmakers. Former DCMS Select Committee chair Damian Collins said that those spreading falsehoods about a vaccine represent "one of the clearest examples of real-world harms that fake news can cause".
