A Buddhist monk in Yangon, Myanmar, has turned his monastery into a sanctuary for snakes which are in danger of being killed or smuggled overseas as food or for use in traditional Chinese medicine. After he started rescuing the reptiles from the black market five years ago, 69-year-old Wilatha has collected dozens of snakes, from pythons and vipers to cobras, which now call the Seikta Thukha TetOo monastery home.
