मकर संक्रांति पर देश के कई शहरों में पतंग उड़ाने की परंपरा है. इसी परंपरा की वजह से मकर संक्रांति को पतंग पर्व भी कहा जाता है. मकर संक्रांति के अवसर पर बाजार रंग-बिरंगे पतंगों से सजे नजर आते हैं. लोग दोस्तों और रिश्तेदारों के साथ पतंग उड़ाने का लुत्फ लेते हैं, लेकिन कम ही लोग जानते हैं कि आखिर इस पर्व पर पतंग क्यों उड़ाई जाती है.
