टीम इंडिया की स्थिति इस समय बेहद ही खराब है. उम्मीद थी कि पहली पारी में टीम इंडिया 500 से ज्यादा रन बनाकर किसी तरह मैच बचाने या फिर मैच में वापसी करने की कोशिश करेगी. पर हुआ बहुत उल्टा. महज 250 रन भीतर ही टीम इंडिया ने छह विकेट गंवा दिए हैं. और इस समय क्रीज पर टिके हुए सुन्दर और अश्विन. यानी कि प्रमुख बल्लेबाज आउट हो चुके हैं और अब बस पुछल्ले बल्लेबाजों पर उम्मीदें टिकी है. किसी तरह से टीम इंडिया अगर 350 रन भी बना लेती है. फिर भी भारत लगभग 270-280 रनों से पीछे रह जाएगी. जो भारत के लिहाज से ठीक नहीं है. तीसरे दिन का खेल खत्म हो चुका है और इस समय भारत 74 ओवर में 6 विकेट खोकर 257 रन बना चुकी है, लेकिन अभी भी भारतीय टीम पर फॉलो-ऑन का खतरा मंडरा रहा है.
