Burns Night has been celebrated on 25th January since 1802 and involves a number of unique traditions to celebrate Robert Burns’s birthday.
There are usually several toasts throughout the evening, with the night ending with guests holding hands singing Auld Lang Syne. But because of Coronavirus pandemic small scale events and virtual dinners were planned.
The Burns supper is a celebration of the life and work of Scottish poet Robert Burns and features a hearty feast which includes haggis, neeps and tatties. They are the traditional accompaniment to haggis and consist of mashed potatoes and turnips.
