Nepali folk dance performed during Sikkim Winter Carnival in India's state of Sikkim. The Kirat people are indigenous ethnic groups of the Himalayas extending eastward from Nepal into Northeast India, Burma and beyond. Broadly speaking, the Kirat people include the Sunuwar, Rai, Limbu, Jirel, major segments of Newar people, Yakkha, Magar, Gurung, Tamang, Thakali and other related mongoloid ethnic groups of Nepal. The famous Gurkha soldiers in the British Army, Indian Army, Singapore Gurkha force are these same Kirat people coming down from hills and mountains of the Nepal Himalaya.
