Hundreds of residents living near Kiambeere and Kakuyu locations in Machakos county risk being rendered homeless after a forceful eviction order was served to vacate their ancestral land. The Tana Athi river development authority is reclaiming the river riparian land in order to extend the Masinga dam. The company claimed it had purchased parcels of land in the area in 1980's. Residents are calling on the government to intervene and save face.
