China's top decision-making has unanimously approved a sweeping overhaul of Hong Kong's electoral system, creating powers to vet anyone standing for public office and slashing the number of directly elected politicians. A China Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson says that any attempt to "meddle and impose pressure on China" because of this law will fail.
