Addressing chief ministers during a virtual meeting on Covid-19 on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "April 11 is the birth anniversary of Jyotiba Phule and April 14 is the birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar. We should organise a 'Teeka Utsav' (vaccination fest) between these dates and try to vaccinate as many eligible people as possible." Appealing to the youth, the prime minister said they should provide all possible help to vaccinate people aged more than 45 years in their vicinity. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope accused the Centre of "discrimination" in the distribution of the vials of Covaxin and Covishield, the Covid-19 vaccines approved in India. Rajesh Tope alleged that the BJP-ruled states got more doses of the Covid-19 vaccines. Rajesh Tope's charge came a day after Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan rebutted his earlier claims about the shortage of vaccine doses in Maharashtra. "I have just got information that we have got additional stock. We have now got 17 lakh doses. It is still less compared to the demand of 40 lakh doses that we have made. Many vaccination centres are closing down. The stock will be over soon. The new allotment is scheduled for use between April 15 and April 20," Rajesh Tope said.
