From Panama to Hong Kong and Cyprus, young marine scientists and student volunteers are hoping new technology such as 3D printing or the creation of artificial nurseries will help turn the tide on the decline of Earth’s coral reefs. With rising sea temperatures contributing to the bleaching of these fragile ecosystems, defenders of the reefs agree that although these technologies are a step forward, one of the first and most important things they can do is raise awareness and ensure future generations are committed to preserving them.
