Two Honduran children found clinging to a small island in the Rio Grande, near Eagle Pass were rescued after being discovered by U.S. border patrol agents on Thursday (April 15).

The two children, aged seven and 13, were scared when they were found Agents carrying out a routine patrol in airboats in the area spotted small footprints and became suspicious, Skero told the American news station.

Skero said the two children said they were not related and told authorities they were separated from their mothers in Mexico and then met an adult man who promised to help them cross into the U.S.. The children were abandoned on the riverbank, CNN reported Skero as saying.
