The coronavirus situation in India due to the deadly surge in Covid-19 infections continues to worsen with a daily rise of over three lakh cases and a critical shortage of oxygen and medicines. Several Covid-19 patients in India have died due to oxygen shortage despite many SOS calls from the hospitals to the Centre and the state governments.

Meanwhile, the European Commission has activated its EU Civil Protection Mechanism and is seeking to send oxygen and medicine to virus-hit India after receiving a request from Delhi.
