Brad Stevens was interviewed pregame before the Celtics took on the Spurs. Stevens was asked about balancing lineup decisions and getting players back into rhythm. Coach stated “We’re trying to win. We’re going to do everything that we can...I think we have a lot of information on our players, I think we have a lot of information on our team. I think that we know what we would look like in a full roster situation...at least we have an idea of what everybody brings to the table in that regard. I feel very comfortable with how we would rotate and how we would go into a normal game.” On the league’s late notice on Marcus Smart’s suspension for Wednesday’s game, Stevens avoided making a comment; “I don’t get into those discussions, that’s our front office, so I don’t know if they talked about it or not.” Stevens gave a brief update on Kemba Walker, saying that while Kemba feels better, he is not ready to play. On Becky Hammond and one day seeing the first female NBA coach, Stevens said “Well I think there are several very qualified candidates, and Becky is obviously a terrific candidate. I don’t know her well, but I know what people think about her, and I know how well she is respected all across the league by the players and by the coaches. I would hope that time is coming very soon.” Stevens also spoke fondly of former Celtics assistant and current NCAA Womens’ coach Kara Lawson. Brad also praised Greg Popovich and the impact of his legacy on the league.
