A solitary red-headed vulture or Asian king vulture (Sarcogyps calvus) roosts on a decaying branch of a tree. They are scavengers feeding on carcasses and remains of meals of bigger predators. The species is critically endangered. Three other vultures of a different species perch on a dry tree at different elevations. The population of vultures are on a decline in India.
