A MAN from India is hoping a life-changing surgery can remove huge tumours which have taken over his face. Ravi Kumar, 40, from Madurai, noticed a small pimple on his face three years ago, but that one spot became several different growths, which cover his entire face. The tumours are so large, he has been unable to work and can only see out of one eye. Ravi told Truly: “I am struggling a lot, with all these sleepless nights and also with my kids. It’s tough to have a life. I didn’t speak to anyone about this. Economically, financially and mentally, we have been so affected. Also with this face, it is very tough to face people.” Despite his best efforts to seek out medical help, doctors had trouble diagnosing the cause, giving him different medications to help treat the growths, but nothing worked. Sheena, his wife, said: “Initially, it started off as a small pimple. Even at that time, we showed it to a lot of skin doctors. They gave us a lot of medicine saying that it will be fine soon. Within a few days, it became so big.” Now, Ravi’s extensive facial growths are being taken care of by Dr Sunil Richardson, who has raised money for the surgery he desperately needs. Ravi told Truly: "I wanted to lead a life like everyone, but to lead a life, eyesight is very important. So I'm here, believing in the hospital. They have given me confidence that everything will be fine.”
