MMDA orders investigation of 2 traffic enforcers in extortion video
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benjamin "Benhur" Abalos Jr. ordered the investigation of two traffic enforcers who were caught on video, allegedly extorting money from a motorcycle rider.
Abalos instructed the Traffic Discipline Office (TDO) to identify the two enforcers in the video that went viral.
The video uploader branded the two traffic enforcers as extortionists in Baclaran, Paranaque City. MMDA said the video did not clearly reveal the faces of the enforcers since it was taken from the top.
The video footage showed one of the enforcers discreetly receiving what appeared to be money from a motorcycle rider in exchange for a driver's license.
Abalos called on the public to look out for erring traffic enforcers. "Help us in weeding out these people as a way to better serve the public," the MMDA chairman added.
