Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat who was sworn in as the state’s head 4 months ago, tendered his resignation to Governor Baby Rani Maurya on June 2. His resignation comes in the wake of uncertainty over bypolls in the state ahead of the assembly elections due next year. He assumed the office on March 10, 2021 after Trivendra Singh Rawat fell out of favour from the Bharatiya Janata Party's high command in Delhi. CM Rawat said, “I have submitted my resignation to Governor. Given the constitutional crisis, I felt it was right for me to resign. I am thankful to the central leadership and PM Modi for every opportunity they have given to me so far.”
