Union Cabinet expansion is likely to take place this week, sources have told India Today. Sources close to the government had initially hinted that PM Modi is likely to rejig his council of ministers to improve administrative governance for the remaining three years of his tenure and also to send out a political signal by correcting regional representation with an eye on upcoming polls. Sources added that the prime minister could effect a little over 20 changes in his council. “The changes may include new inductions, leaders being sent from government to the party, and vice-versa and redistribution of portfolios," a leader told India Today.
