Bollywood legend Dilip Kumar has died in Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital. The 98-year-old veteran actor was taken to hospital on June 30 after he complained of breathlessness. It was the second time he had been hospitalised in the same month. “He passed away due to prolonged illness at 7.30 am,” Dr Jalil Parkar, who had been treating Kumar, told news agency PTI. A tweet posted from the actor's official handle by family friend Faisal Farooqui read: “With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip saab.” Two days ago, Saira Banu shared a message on Dilip Kumar's Twitter which read, “We are grateful for God's infinite mercy on Dilip Saab that his health is improving.” Dilip Kumar was first taken to hospital on June 6 and was put on oxygen support. He was discharged on June 11. Dilip Kumar had been in and out of hospital over the last few years with illnesses ranging from a kidney ailment to pneumonia. Tributes poured in from PM Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Ashok Gehlot, Akshay Kumar, Subhash Ghai, Vir Das, Ajay Devgn, Jaaved Jaaferi and many others who remembered the legendary actor.
