The nominees for the 73rd Emmy Awards were announced on July 13 and looks like shows such as The Crown, The Mandalorian and WandaVision stole the show. The Crown, which streams on Netflix, topped the list of Emmy nominations with as many as 24 nods. In doing so, The Crown shared the top spot on the list of Emmy nominations with Disney+'s The Mandalorian, also with 24 nods. Marvel spin-off WandaVision, which also streams on Disney+, followed at close heels with nominations in 23 categories. Meanwhile, Apple TV+'s comedy show Ted Lasso prominently featured on the list of nominations with nods in 20 categories. New shows such as Netflix's Bridgerton, Amazon's The Boys and HBO Max's Lovecraft Country joined the list of old favourites in the Best Drama category. The newcomers will compete with the likes of Netflix's The Crown, Disney+'s The Mandalorian, FX's Pose, Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale and NBC's This Is Us in the Outstanding Drama Series category. The Emmy nominations for this year scored a whopping 130 nods for HBO and its own streamer HBO Max combined. The Emmy 2021 nominations were announced by father-daughter duo Ron Cephas Jones and Jasmine Cephas Jones.
