भारत और श्रीलंका के बीच तीन वनडे मैचों की सीरीज का पहला मैच कोलंबो के आर प्रेमदासा स्टेडियम में खेला जा रहा है। मेजबान श्रीलंका ने टॉस जीतकर पहले बल्लेबाजी का फैसला किया। पहले बल्लेबाजी करते हुए श्रीलंका ने 50 ओवर में 9 विकेट पर 262 रन बनाए। टीम इंडिया को जीत के लिए 263 रनों का टारगेट मिला है, लक्ष्य का पीछा करने उतरे टीम इंडिया के लिए पृथ्वी शॉ और शिखर धवन की जोड़ी ने ताबड़तोड़ शुरुआत की, पहले विकेट के लिए दोनों ने 50 रन सिर्फ 5 वें ओवर में ही जोड़ दिए थे, इस दौरान शॉ ने 24 गेंदों पर 43 रन की पारी खेली जिसमें 9 चौके लगाए।
