India had its first gold medal at Tokyo Olympics 2020 and the country’s second ever individual gold, with Neeraj Chopra winning in the men’s javelin throw. Chopra beat Czech Republic duo of Jakub Vadlejch and Vitezslav Vesely, to clinch his gold. The 23-year old’s gold has brought joy to millions of Indians who had almost given up hope of seeing a gold medal in India’s 2020 Olympics tally as the games come to a close on Aug 8, 2021. From Prime Minister wishing Chopra, to Union Minister Kiren Rijeju popping champagne in celebration, industrialist Anand Mahindra promising to gift an XUV700, and finally PT Usha saying that her dream of a gold in athletics has been fulfilled, Twitter has been full of congratulations for Neeraj Chopra.
