A U.S. International Trade Commission judge ruled Friday that Google ($GOOGL@US) infringed on Sonos' ($SONO@US) patents. The suit began in 2020, with Sonos claiming Google violated on five of its smart speaker patents by putting Sonos technology in Google products. Sonos wanted a sales ban on several Google products such as Nest home speakers, Pixel smartphones, and Chromecast. Sonos trades publicly on NASDAQ, under the ticker $SONO. Sonos stock was trading nearly 10% higher on Monday morning off of the patent news. The win may allow Sonos to secure more licensing deals from other tech companies.
