A fire that burned down a chip manufacturing plant in Japan that was initially thought to negatively affect computers has extended into the automotive industry. Many car manufacturers such as GM ($GM@US) and Ford ($F@US) expect earnings to be slashed by billions while automotive dealers are rapidly losing new vehicle inventory, and the used car market is hyperinflated.
