New Caledonia buries repatriated remains of indigenous Kanak chief Ataï

The remains of Ataï, the leader of the Kanak revolt of 1878 and a symbol of resistance against colonisation, are buried in the mausoleum of La Foa, in central New Caledonia. Preserved in the Musée de l'Homme in Paris since the 19th century, the remains were repatriated to New Caledonia in 2014.
