On September 15, South Korea successfully test-fired a submarine-launched ballistic missile. With this, South Korea became the seventh country in the world with the advanced technology, raising the prospect of a regional arms race, reported AFP. It came hours after nuclear-armed North Korea fired two ballistic missiles. The test was supervised by President Moon Jae-in. Soon after, Moon was rebuked by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's influential sister Kim Yo Jong, who accused him of slander. North fired two ballistic missiles from South Pyongan province into the sea off its east coast. The United States has condemned the launches by North Korea.
