Heavy rainfall witnessed in Kolkata which resulted in waterlogging in the city and surrounding districts since Sunday night. Heavy rains, triggered by a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal inundated large parts of the city on Monday and led to a suspension of circular rail operation, few long-distance trains getting rescheduled apart from disruptions in road traffic. The weather department said that it had never rained as much in Kolkata on a single day in September in the last 14 years. Heavy rainfall occurred over Kolkata and adjoining North and South 24 Paraganas, Howrah, Hooghly and East Medinipur. Heavy rainfall activity is likely to continue next 2-3 hours. Watch this episode.
