हर साल धनतेरस के दिन से ही दीपाली की सजावट और खरीददारी शुरू हो जाती है, इस दौरान लोग रंग बिरंग दीए खरीदते है तो वहीं घर घर खूबसूरत रंगोली बनाने की भी परंपरा है । घर के पास ही छोटे कारोबारी जो बड़ी मेहनत से रंग बिरंग दीए और कई रंगोली के रंग लिए, सड़कों पर बैठे है हम उनकी भी दीवाली सुख समृद्धि से भर देते है । इस बार दीवाली के तोहफे के तौर पर सड़कों के किनारे बैठे लोकल वेंडर्स के खूबसूरत दीयों और रंगोली के खूबसूरत रंगों के साथ स्टेंसिल भी खरीदते है. चाइनीज लाइट्स या कैंडल्स नहीं जगमगाते दीयों से घर को रौशन करते है । धनतेरस में गहनों और बर्तनों के साथ इनकी भी जेबें थोड़ी मोटी करते है, ये दीवाली इनके लिए भी यादगार बनाते है ।

India’s biggest festival season – the five days of Diwali or Deepavali, Choti Diwali, Dhanteras, Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj – is just a few days away. This year the Diwali festival week is between 12 November and 16 November. Every state in India celebrates these few days in its own unique way. While it’s Kali Pujain West Bengal, for states in south India Naraka Chaturdashi is the biggest day marking Lord Krishna’s victory over Narakasura.Apart from the normal small diyas, these street vendors have a good collection of wall pieces, ceramic tulsi pots, religious and hanging lights. Each hanging light costs Rs 20 to 30- Natural hand made hanging light requires a bulb to lighten the place, giving a typical look of ‘goodu deepa’. There are pure clay lamps as well as lamps painted with different colours. Raju and Siraj will be here in Mangaluru until Diwali ends and then they will go back to their hometown once their purpose is served.
