A MODEL is fighting back against fatphobia by launching an all-plus-size burlesque troupe. Growing up, Carina Shero, 32 - known on social media as Unskinny Shero - felt constantly judged by others for "being a chubby girl." She told Truly: "Everyday, we are told that we are less valuable and there is something inherently wrong with us." Then, when she moved from Germany to the USA aged 18, she felt that media representation of larger women like her was lacking. Determined to spread body positivity, she began sharing photos and videos of herself posing in lingerie and figure-hugging outfits online. Her posts have received outpouring support as well as judgment and hate - but she refuses to let trolls bring her down. As well as working as a photographer and burlesque performer, she has co-founded 'The Femme FATales', one of the first all-plus-size burlesque troupes in Chicago. Carina said: "Burlesque is just such a great place to connect with people in the audience and serve them up fat liberation on a silver platter. I just love being able to be sparkly and fat."
