Bhai Dooj , the festival of brother-sister love and trust, is held on the second date of Kartik Shukla. On this day sisters worship their brother by doing tilak for his long life. According to the belief, the brother who goes to his sister's house on this day to take food and get Tilak done, does not die prematurely. On this day, if the brother of a sister is away and cannot come to his house, then there is no need to worry. In astrology, there are some special rules regarding this, by which they will get the full fruit of this worship even though they are away from their brother.

भाई-बहन के प्रेम और विश्वास का पर्व भाई दूज कार्तिक शुक्ल की द्वितिया तिथि को होता है. इस दिन बहनें अपने भाई के तिलक कर उनकी लंबी आयु की कामना के लिए पूजा करती हैं. मान्यता के अनुसार जो भाई इस दिन बहन के घर जाकर भोजन ग्रहण करता है और तिलक करवाता है, उसकी अकाल मृत्यु नहीं होती है. इस दिन यदि किसी बहन का भाई दूर है और उसके घर नहीं आ सकता है, तो परेशान होने की आवश्यकता नहीं हैं. ज्योतिष में इसे लेकर कुछ खास नियम हैं, जिन्हें करने से उन्हें भाई के दूर होते हुए भी इस पूजा का संपूर्ण फल प्राप्त होगा.
