Several parts of Chennai went underwater on Sunday morning after the city recorded heavy overnight rains. From Saturday morning onwards, Chennai and several suburbs in Chengelpet, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts witnessed intermittent rains, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting more rainfall over the coming days and issuing a 'red' category warning. Chennai has received the heaviest rainfall since the 2015 floods.
